1817, but her characters still live on today. Her romantic and

atmospheric novels are prized for their depiction of English

country life and this tour follows her footsteps from her much

admired home in Chawton to more contemporary links with the

Hollywood remake of Pride and Prejudice.

Itinerary

Day 1: Outward journey to the hotel,

stopping in Llandrindod Wells to

enjoy all that a Victorian Spa Town

has to offer.

Day 2: Following breakfast there

will be a full day tour of local crafts

centres and also the remarkable little

`city' of St Davids.

Day 3: Free time in Fishguard to sample local wares and a
chance to enjoy some of the wonderful coastal scenery
forming the Pembokeshire Coast National Park. Followed
by an evening of Welsh Food, folklore and entertainment.
Day 4: Today starts with a trip to the lovely seaside resort
of Tenby with its rich, sandy beaches and
traditional seaside feel. A boat to Caldey
Island which has been inhabited by
Cistercian monks for centuries.
Day 5: The homeward journey starts
with a stop off in the vibrant Welsh
Capital of Cardiff with its newly
refurbished waterfront and traditional
city centre before we head home after a
lovely holiday.

This special area was designated as Britain's first

coastal National Park due to its spectacular landscape

of rugged cliffs, sandy beaches, wooded estuaries and

wild inland hills, and a place of sanctuary for wildlife;

the perfect place for a relaxing holiday.

Itinerary

Day 1: Travelling out to our hotel via the
18th century Palladian mansion of
Basildon Park, which was recently
transformed into 'Netherfield' for the
Hollywood adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.
Day 2: Moving through the beautiful Hampshire
countryside we will visit Jane Austen's home at Chawson,
near Alton. This lovely 17th century house is not far from her
birth place of Steventon and now houses a museum
containing an attractive collection of items connected with
Jane and her family, including the table where she used to
write her novels. During the afternoon we will visit the historic
city

of Winchester where Jane is buried in

the Cathedral.

Day 3: Today we will be visiting

Milestones an excellent museum with

recreated Victorian and Edwardian

street scenes. The museum is packed

with objects of memorabilia and visitors

at the weekend are likely to see characters in period

costumes.
Day 4: Travelling home today with a stop in the charming
University City of Oxford.
