BAKERS COACHES BACKS LEEK'S SCALLY RALLY TEAM
Two coach drivers from Bakers Coaches of Biddulph, Frank Bailey and Dave Sutton plus Dave's brother Steve, an HGV mechanic have teamed up to drive to Italy for a charity fund raising effort.
The trio are participating in the Scally Rally in which contestants have to drive a £100 car 1,200 miles across Europe through France and into Switzerland, across the Swiss Alps and into Italy, finishing at Rimini. The trip is expected to take four days up to 18th September, over which they will undertake a number of challenges en-route in competition with some 90 other entrants.
The ultimate purpose is to raise funds on behalf of two charities; the Douglas Macmillan Hospice in Blurton and Diabetes UK. In addition to sponsorship the trio are hoping to boost the proceeds by winning the Scally Rally prize money of £1000.
Bakers Coaches is supporting the venture by covering the cost of fuel for the rally and the return journey so the car a 1986 BMW 5 Series, can be put up for auction.
